Sesame Streetってなじみ深いようで、以外と英語版のエピソードを見たことがありませんでした。
有名な子供向けのコンテンツですが、
はたして私はセサミストリートを聞き取り、理解することができるんでしょうか･･･。
SesameStreetはストリーミングプラットフォームでも視聴できます。日本では今はU-NEXTで視聴が可能です。

Bert and Ernieシリーズを視てみましょう
個人的に好きなのがBer and Ernieのシリーズなので、今回はこちらを紹介したいと思います。
2人の掛け合いがいいですね。
こども向けコンテンツという事と、今回選んだエピソードはシチュエーションがシンプルで分かりやすいですね。
問題なく聞き取ることができました。
この二人はモンスターではないんですね。
”I can’t sleep, I’m afraid of dark shadows and spooky things and monsters.”
とErnieが言うとBertが”Gover and Cookier monster, they are monsters”と答えます。
友達もモンスターばっかりだから怖くないよ、というなかなかな回答です。
一体BurtとErnieは何の生き物なのでしょうか。
まずはWikipediaで調べてみる-Bert and Ernie-
まずはBertとErnieについて調べてみます。
According to writer Jon Stone, the relationship between Bert and Ernie reflected the real-life friendship between Oz and Henson.[2] Although their names are commonly believed to have been drawn from those of two minor characters in the Frank Capra film It’s A Wonderful Life, sources from within the Sesame Street production team suggest that the identical names were coincidental.[3]
BertとErnieはパペット操演者のOzとHensonの二人のキャラクターを反映させているようです。
An ordinary Bert and Ernie sketch involves Ernie coming up with a hare-brained idea, and Bert trying to talk him out of it, usually getting Bert frustrated and Ernie dumbfounded. For example, if Ernie wanted to do something loud while Bert is doing something quiet like reading a book or the newspaper, Bert would teach him how to be quiet; however, Ernie would still make some noise, which would cause Bert to either lose his temper or leave the room.
また基本的なプロットとしてはErnieがhare-brained idea＝すごくばかげたアイディアを思いつき、
Bertがそれをやめさせようとする、というプロットが基本のようです。
言われてみれば先ほど紹介した動画もそうでしたね。
Physically, Bert represents a human, with yellow skin and a vertically elongated head, with a tuft of black hair at the top. Bert has a noted unibrow.
ということでBertは人間ということでした。
2人の年齢について調べてみましたが、公式には不明とのことでした。
子供向け番組ということで二人の会話の内容的は、子供っぽい内容ですが、
2人でアパートに住んでいるようで、2人の親も登場しないため、一体いくつくらいなんでしょうかね。
詰め合わせ動画もありました。
最近はアニメーションスタイルになっているようですね。
面白さは変わりませんが、個人的にはパペットスタイルがどことなく親しみやすく、優しい雰囲気があって好きですね。
